Cypress String Quartet 2012

For 13 years the Cypress String Quartet has presented the Call & Response program to expand chamber music repertoire and inspire all audiences' imaginations. Each year the Cypress creates that link by commissioning a composer to 'respond' to the 'call' of chamber music repertoire or literature. Call & Response 2012 will feature lyrical masterpieces by Haydn and Beethoven: Haydn's Op.20 No.1 and Beethoven's Opus 127. Known for his own incredibly lyrical music, Philippe Hersant answers the call of these ground-breaking works with a world premiere commissioned by the Cypress String Quartet. Hersant is the first international composer to participate in the Call & Response program.

Maestro Artist Management presents a special performance by two classical musicians who rank among the most admired and prominent in the world: internationally renowned violinist Vladimir Spivakov and brilliant pianist Olga Kern. The striking all-star duo enjoy extensive solo performance schedules, orchestral engagements, and recording activities, displaying vivid stage presence, passionately confident musicianship and extraordinary technique. Spivakov and Kern will tour with a program of chamber works by Brahms, Stravinsky and Franck.
Maestro Vladimir Spivakov needs no introduction. A violinist of "soulful refinement and technical finesse," he appears regularly as a recitalist and orchestra soloist in all major international music capitals. Performing for over three decades, he has been one of the most acclaimed violin virtuosos of our time.

Pianist Olga Kern launched her career by winning the Gold Medal at the Van Cliburn Piano Competition in 2001. Ever since, her vivid stage presence and extraordinary technique have captivated audiences and critics around the world.
