Xian Yun Academy 2018 Winter Recital and Art Exhibit
Xian Yun Academy is proud to present our 2018 Winter Recital and Art Exhibit!
The recital is primarily designed to showcase fundamental training and technique. Students from our middle and high school program, as well as our weekday and weekend extended programs, will be performing classroom routines from Xian Yun’s systematic curriculum. An opportunity for valuable stage experience, the winter recital also serves as an effective way for pre-professional and recreational students alike to interact and learn from one another.
Our program’s training focus is classical Chinese dance--a dance form that originated in Chinese imperial palaces and opera, passed down and refined over thousands of years. Soaking up profound wisdom from every era and dynasty, it has become a complete system of dance embodying traditional aesthetic principles with its unique dance movements, rhythms, and inner meaning.
On the other hand, Chinese ethnic and folk dance represents a vast and varied assortment of traditional dance styles. Chinese ethnic dance generally refers to the dance forms passed down among the many minority ethnic groups within China. Folk dance, meanwhile, refers to the popular dance styles passed down among the majority Han ethnicity, like the Yang Ge, ribbon, and handkerchief dances.
You will also notice the artwork displayed by Xian Yun’s visual art students in the lobby. These young individuals are extremely talented and meticulous when it comes to art. They spend a number of hours each day working to refine their skills and challenging their creativity.
Hope you enjoy the performance and art exhibit!
