Under the leadership of Artistic Director Valérie Sainte-Agathe, the San Francisco Girls Chorus has developed an unmistakable sound—uniting the clarity and power of expertly trained treble voices with deep emotional expressiveness and dramatic range. The Chorus performs more than a millennium of vocal music, from early plainchant to contemporary commissions, in programs that are both thoughtfully curated and deeply inspiring.
Each year, hundreds of young singers ages 4 to 18 from across the Bay Area participate in SFGC’s six-level training program, which nurtures the joy of singing at every stage of development and culminates in the renowned professional-level performing, touring, and recording ensemble.
Now in its 47th season, the San Francisco Girls Chorus stands as a leading artistic force locally and nationally—celebrated for its acclaimed concerts, recordings, and tours; its commitment to commissioning and championing new music for treble voices; and its lasting impact in empowering generations of young artists and setting an international standard for excellence.
