Shoufou Alwawa Wayn
Im Hussein & AJYAL Theatrical Group Shoufou Alwawa Wayn written by Najee Mondalek
Palace of Fine Arts Theatre September 19, 2010 8:00pm
Date of the show : 9/19/2010 "Shoufou Alwawa Wayn” (Where Does It Hurt?)
Just when we thought that Im Hussein, Im Elias and their families were finally settled into the American way of life and had put all of their troubles behind them, the global economy takes a nosedive. What to do? If you've been following their comical cultural adjustments to American life, you can anticipate some hilarious situations in “Shoufou Alwawa Wayn” when they face foreclosure and a host of related money problems. “Shoufou Alwawa Wayn" by AJYAL Theatrical Group, will be performed in 2010-2011 in many cities in USA, Canada and Australia. AJYAL Theatrical Group, the first Arab-American theatre group in North America, has been in existence since 1988, staging many comedy productions over the years. Most of AJYAL Theatrical Group' shows poke fun at the everyday lives of Arab-Americans who are desperately trying to blend into the mainstream of American culture. The plays serve as a forum to help people laugh at their mistakes and mishaps but also to come to terms with social issues facing Arab-Americans.

LAMPLIGHTERS Annual Champagne Gala 2010
Herbst Theatre - San Francisco Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 4:00 PM
A Lamplighters Gala is a unique fun-raising experience, and if you haven't attended one you really are missing something special. Past Galas such as Rosencrantz & Guildenstern’s Excellent Adventure, Apocalypse Later, Major General Hospital, and Operetta, Get Me the Police! have won Best Original Show awards from the Bay Area Theater Critics Circle. If you haven't figured it out yet, the performance itself is a comic spoof with an original libretto set to, mostly, the music of Sir Arthur Sullivan. Last year's theme was a spoof on the recent Star Trek movie and, true to Lamplighters Gala tradition, tied in elements from other, seemingly random, areas such as American Idol and Broadway. THIS year’s story is still being written so all we can tell you is that it will feature zombies and vampires and other monsters (but don’t worry it definitely won’t be scary.
Patrons are invited to come early to browse the many fabulous items in our silent auction including vacations, lessons, art and music, Lamplighters memorabilia, and one-of-a-kind experiences such as the chance to conduct an overture with our orchestra or a walk-on role in a performance. After the full-length show the audience are invited to join the costumed cast and crew in the green room for a champagne party!
