During the pandemic, comedians worldwide took to Zoom to continue performing their craft and paying their rent. In July 2020, Lisa Geduldig, the creator and producer of the acclaimed Kung Pao Kosher Comedy™ - Jewish Comedy on Christmas in a Chinese Restaurant launched the monthly comedy series Lockdown Comedy on the 3rd Thursday of the month and the show ran continuously until November 2023. The show was resurrected in February 2024 and will take place on a TBD basis on a random Thursday. Please note: The show will now place at 6:30pm PST/9:30pm EST (a half hour earlier than previously).
Lockdown Comedy performers have included London’s Shazia Mirza, Canada’s Elvira Kurt, LA’s Cathy Ladman, Wendy Liebman, and Greg Proops, NY’s Ophira Eisenberg and Jackie Hoffman. Lisa runs the show from her mother’s guest room in Florida, and her 93 year young mother Arline, with whom Lisa has been spending the pandemic, also performs on the show.
Lockdown Comedy’s next show takes place on Thursday, May 9th and features: Sampson McCormick (LA), Sandra Valls (LA), Victor Pacheco (LA), Lisa Geduldig and her 93 year young mom, Arline Geduldig (Florida).

Lisa’s nonagenarian mother, Arline, with whom she has hunkered down and spent the last three years in Florida, is each month’s special guest. Arline did stand up for her first time in July 2020 in the virtual comedy club her daughter has been running out of her retirement community home. Arline and Lisa have been featured in a Los Angeles Times article, How A California Comic Launched A Virtual Stand-up Show and Discovered A New Star: Mom, in the San Francisco Chronicle S.F.’s Lisa Geduldig Happily Sharing Comedy Spotlight with A Fresh Talent, Her 90-Year-Old Mother, and on a KTVU Channel 2 segment Mother-Daughter Duo Perform Lockdown Comedy.
