LEGACY! Join us in celebrating an amazing 75 years of dance in San Francisco. We hope you enjoy the opening story of our founder’s travel through time, that led her to open Star Dance Studio in 1950.

About Star Dance Studio:
Star Dance Studio, a provider of top-quality dance education, was founded in 1950 by Ruth Jevarian, a professional ballerina and Armenian folk dancer. Her students performed around the city at special events, hospitals, and senior centers, sharing the joy of dance with their audiences. She retired in 1974 and turned the studio over to her daughter, Micky Powell, who continued the LEGACY. As enrollment grew, the dance studio needed to move to a larger facility. In 1996, Sutro Supermarket, built in 1933, was transformed into the beautiful and permanent home of Star Dance Studio. Micky continues to run the school, along with a team of talented and dedicated teachers who ensure it will continue to flourish for many more years. The school offers an array of dance classes for children and adults and prides itself on it’s warm and caring family style atmosphere.
