This spring, audiences will have a rare opportunity to experience the rich body of work created over four decades by visionary choreographer Alonzo King.
Four Decades of Creation, performed by LINES’ world-renowned dancers, draws from the archive of collaborations with extraordinary artists Zakir Hussain, Sabir Khan, Jason Moran, Etta James and Pharoah Sanders and music composed by Bach and Handel. The enduring power of these unique works has moved audiences from the 1980s to the present.
The evening also features Grace, an exclusive encore performance of King’s recent commission by Grace Cathedral. While it draws its inspiration from diverse sacred music traditions, it is a ballet for our times.
About Alonzo King LINES Ballet
Thirty-eight years of outstanding, multi-disciplinary collaborations for the stage place Alonzo King LINES Ballet at the forefront of artistic innovation in ballet. With each collaboration, LINES Ballet investigates deeply rooted affinities between Western and Eastern classical forms, elemental materials, the natural world, and the human spirit.
