During the pandemic, comedians worldwide have taken to Zoom to continue performing their craft and paying their rent. In July 2020, Lisa Geduldig, the creator and producer of the acclaimed Kung Pao Kosher Comedy™ - Jewish comedy on Christmas in a Chinese Restaurant (the 28th annual took place online last December with over 2000 viewers worldwide, and the 2021 version will also be livestreamed) and other popular San Francisco comedy shows, launched a monthly comedy series Lockdown Comedy (on the 3rd Thursday of the month). Performers have included London’s Shazia Mirza, Canada’s Elvira Kurt, LA’s Cathy Ladman, Wendy Liebman, and Greg Proops, NY’s Ophira Eisenberg and Jackie Hoffman, and from Florida Arline Geduldig (Lisa’s 90 year old mother with whom she has been spending the pandemic in Florida), and Lisa Geduldig.
On November 18th, Lockdown Comedy continues its Zoom show with an comedians: Cynthia Levin, (LA), Dauood Naimyar (Oakland), Symply Courtney (Austin), and Lisa Geduldig (SF) and her 90 year old mom, Arline Geduldig (Florida).
*Please note: The new show time is 7pm PST / 10pm EST (rather than 6pm PST / 9pm EST).
Lisa’s nonagenarian mother, Arline, with whom she hunkered down and spent over a year in lockdown in Florida, is each month’s special guest. Arline did stand up for her first time last July in the virtual comedy club her daughter has been running out of her retirement community home. Arline and Lisa were recently featured in a Los Angeles Times article, How A California Comic Launched A Virtual Stand-up Show and Discovered A New Star: Mom, in a KTVU Channel 2 segment Mother-Daughter Duo Perform Lockdown Comedy, and in the San Francisco Chronicle, S.F.’s Lisa Geduldig Happily Sharing Comedy Spotlight with A Fresh Talent, Her 90-Year-Old Mother.
Since the monthly Lockdown Comedy shows cater to audiences of 100-250 monthly throughout the US and some internationally, the show will continue on ZOOM for the foreseeable future, even as venues begin to open, and cater to those who don’t want to go out and like staying in watching live comedy from the comfort of their couch in their jammies.
Lisa and her tech co-host/DJ, Sandy O present the monthly show on Zoom, featuring comedians from around the US and occasionally across the globe.
If you can’t watch the show live, you can buy a ticket and then email firstname.lastname@example.org to let her know; she will send you an unlisted YouTube link the weekend following the show.
