About Secrets of Armenia:
Secrets of Armenia is an International music project and concert agency of Mikael Ayrapetyan, dedicated to the discovery of classical music of Armenia, whose roots go back to the folk art of the III century BC. Over such a long period, music has managed to accumulate many secrets related to the history and culture of the country. One of these secrets — the names of composers, undeservedly forgotten in time — reveal at their concerts the musicians of the project. The activity of the International music project is aimed at a wide process of popularization of Armenian classical music and creativity of Armenian composers. The work of the organization includes international management and organization of concerts in order to expand the audience of listeners and admirers of the ancient and multifaceted musical art of Armenia.

| Mikael Ayrapetyan is a pianist, composer, producer and teacher, as well as a researcher and public figure. He has done much to popularise Armenian classical music all over the world with his Secrets of Armenia musical project, which began during his studies at the Moscow Conservatory. Born in 1984 in Yerevan, Armenia, he studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, and continues to uphold the performing traditions of the Russian piano school, of which Konstantin Igumnov, Samuel Feinberg and Lev Oborin are luminaries. His repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the contemporary and includes rarely performed works by Armenian composers. This period was the start of his extensive concert activity in which he performs works by Tigranian, Chukhadjian, Komitas, Melikian, Spendiarian, Barkhudarian, Stepanian, Khachaturian, Babajanian, Arutiunian, Abrahamian, Bagdasarian, Avetisian, Mirzoyan, Amirkhanian and many other Armenian composers, which eventually led him to produce his own concerts. After completing his studies at the Moscow Conservatory, Ayrapetyan performed widely in many countries, receiving an enthusiastic response from critics and audiences alike. He was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Armenia for his outstanding contribution to the development and popularisation of Armenian classical music. His recording of Eduard Bagdasarian’s piano and violin music (GP664) earned a five-star rating from International Piano, and his album of Haro Stepanian’s 24 Preludes (GP760) was praised as a ‘discovery’ by both Classica and Piano News. Yulia Ayrapetyan is a US-based pianist, producer and pedagogue, establishing herself as one of today’s exciting young artists after making her debut at the Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall in 2023. She has attracted international recognition for her exceptional artistry, displaying striking assurance, imagination, artistic approach, and remarkable consistency in the musical integrity and creative insight of her performances. She is also known for her natural musicality, tonal expressiveness, and as a benchmark interpreter of Komitas and Melikian, and has performed in the United States, Europe, Russia, Armenia and China. Her repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the contemporary and includes rarely performed works by Armenian composers. She has given the US, Chinese, Europe, Russian and Armenian premieres of forgotten Armenian piano music, which she rediscovered. It has since become her passion to perform this music on the world’s stages. She actively supports and participates in recordings and concerts for her husband Mikael Ayrapetyan’s project, Secrets of Armenia. |
