Elementary school teacher Michele requests a transfer from a derelict neighborhood school in Rome to a school (enrollment: 8) in the tranquil village of Rupe in Abruzzo. He hopes he can make a difference there. It’s an idyllic place in winter and summer; however, due to the lack of enrollment, the school is on the brink of closure. Moreover, the village is facing extinction as the youth leave the village for the cities. Michele and Agnese, the vice principal, believe the answer may be in recruiting Ukrainian and Moroccan families to immigrate to Rupe.

Ten-year old Denni has a violent father and a mother who takes his abuse. The child wants to save his mother, and when his friend Eva tells him that she has a cousin who is a paid killer, he thinks he has found the ideal solution. So Denni approaches Eva's cousin, nicknamed Secco, and orders him to kill his father, promising him a fee that the child takes from his father's safe. Secco is not particularly adept at this kind of work. However, he could use the money, so he accepts the job. The partnership leads to unexpected conclusions.
