One in three women worldwide will experience physical or sexual violence in her lifetime. The members and allies of the Foundation for Filipina Women's Network perform this play to raise awareness, demand justice, and express solidarity with survivors.
The performance is a call for action and a demand for accountability and justice for survivors of gender-based violence.
"The Vagina Monologues," written by playwright and activist V (formerly Eve Ensler), broke ground in 1994, offering the world a piece of art like nothing it had seen before. Based on dozens of interviews V conducted with women, the play addressed women's sexuality and the social stigma surrounding rape and abuse, creating a new conversation about and with women.
An Obie Award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone, "The Vagina Monologues" introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, the Comfort Women’s call for apology, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and a feminist happy to have found a man who "liked to look at it."

About the Foundation for Filipina Women's Network:
Transforming Lives Through Courage and Community
For over two decades, the Foundation for Filipina Women's Network has fearlessly championed Filipina women worldwide, proving that bold action creates lasting change. Since 2003, FWN has produced "The Vagina Monologues" (Usaping Puki) as part of their groundbreaking anti-domestic violence campaign despite facing fierce community backlash and losing members who criticized founder Marily Mondejar as the "vagina lady."
What started as controversial performances evolved into "Vagina Love Brunches" - safe spaces where women shared stories of abuse, secrets, and healing while building sisterhood over food and conversation. This courageous initiative responded to the 2000 unsolved murder of 22-year-old Filipina Claire Joyce Tempongko, launching a comprehensive anti-violence campaign including court monitoring, legislative advocacy, and community education.
Through their DISRUPT book series featuring 167 authors from 16 countries, FWN documents how Filipina women overcome poverty, discrimination, and violence to become global leaders. Their productions have been held across six cities internationally, in conjunction with the FWN Filipina Leadership Global Summit, while the Global FWN100™ Awards recognize influential Filipina women with awardees in 33 countries.
Support FWN because they create safe spaces, amplify the voices, and build the networks that transform individual struggles into collective power - proving that when Filipina women rise together, they change the world.
