One performance only! PEV and Dr. Nicolás Dosman offer a springtime program of prophecies and dreams for a renewed, better world for all. The musical centerpiece is Rosephanye Powell’s The Cry of Jeremiah, a stunning four-movement work for chorus and narrator. The Cry of Jeremiah melds classical and gospel styles with the story of the prophet who bridges the Judaic, Christian and Islamic liturgical traditions. Other works on the program include settings of Langston Hughes' "I Dream a World" and other related texts.

About Pacific Edge Voices:

Known as the Bay Area's "uncommon chorus," and founded in Berkeley in 1980, PEV is currently led by Dr. Nicolás Dosman. PEV’s rich musical history has included artistic collaborations  with composers and artists John Adams, Dave Brubeck, David Lang, Bobby McFerrin, Meredith Monk, Deke Sharon, Sufjan Stevens, Sweet Honey in the Rock, American Bach Soloists, Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, Coro Nacional de Cuba, Oakland Symphony, among others. The ensemble was nominated for a “Best Choral Performance” Grammy® Award in 2006 for the Harmonia Mundi recording of Bernstein’s Mass with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester, Kent Nagano conducting. PEV has toured internationally and debuted at Carnegie Hall in 2005, representing choral music for Meredith Monk’s 40th Anniversary Celebration.
