What if Bad Acting could Kill? Joseph R. McGee Jr. has spent his entire life preparing for this role. In the World Premiere of R3*, he brings Shakespeare’s Richard III to the stage single-handedly: star, director, creator, and puppeteer. Critics have called it ambitious. His mother has called it wonderful. What could possibly go wrong? Only the court, jury, and you can make that decision.

When writer/producer/director Elaine A. Clark was a college theater major, she sat in a London audience of the play Whose Life Is It Anyway? Suddenly, the auditorium lights flashed on, a doctor in the house was requested, ambulance medics arrived, and the audience member was removed from the theater. During a NY Broadway show a week later, the same scene repeated. That planted a seed in young Elaine’s mind: “What if acting can kill?” Skip forward to the San Francisco Bay Area a few years later. While performing in a Microsoft corporate video, Clark met award-winning playwright, poet, and business training and development writer, Scott Munson. Through that artistic connection, Clark went on to direct, produce, and act in several of Munson’s one-act plays. Elaine proposed the idea to Scott that they co-write a one-act comedy. Actor You’re Killing Me went on to win the Sold-Out Award at the San Francisco Fringe Festival. Decades later, Clark came up with a new concept of how to expand the play into a full-length production. She proposed the idea to Munson. After writing, re-writing, readings in SF and the UK, and a staged reading where the audience offered suggestions… they came up with the play you see today, R3* - Actor You’re Killing Me… a farce.
Co-Writer/Director/Producer
Elaine A. Clark has acted, directed, produced, written, cast, coached, and created enough projects to make “wearing many hats” look like a full-time wardrobe. From stage and screen to voice-over and audio production, Elaine brings equal parts creativity, curiosity, and “let’s see what happens if we try this” to everything she does. That’s what makes her a San Francisco legend.
Co-Writer
Scott Munson is the guy you call when traditional training needs a little more theater, a little more storytelling, and a lot more fun. An award-winning playwright, poet, and instructional designer, Scott combines the discipline of learning with the drama of stage. He enjoys the creativity, intensity, and freedom of writing for the theater. R3*-Actor You’re Killing Me… a farce allowed him leeway to tap into his legal background and “speaker” of French fluency.
