"Hidden gems of vintage footage reveal San Francisco's storied history - come see & get inspired!"
LOST LANDSCAPES 02026 — the 21st year — celebrates life, landscape and labor in San Francisco. Made for a noisy audience, this year’s film focuses on the textures and activities of everyday life, known and unknown historical moments, and lost and found infrastructures, revealing the scars of settlement and pointing to more hopeful futures. Highlights will include the construction of the Bay Bridge (which turns 90 on November 12), transportation in the air, water and on the land; family life in the City's rich and resilient communities; arts and performance; a 1970s Soviet critique of California; and unpredictable moments on the streets.
As always, the film combines home movies, government-produced and industrial films, feature-film outtakes and many other surprises from the Prelinger Library collection. Come prepared to share your questions, identifications and historical opinions.
Each year, LOST LANDSCAPES Patron Tickets support about 25% of Prelinger Library’s annual budget. Please consider supporting this famed South of Market experimental research library, going strong after 20 years, that provides access to artists, historians, community members, researchers and readers of all kinds!
